Qualifications

• B. Tech (any field preferably Civil Engineering)
• Masters (Transport Planning or related field)

Experience

• 3 to 10 years
• May consider someone more experienced if the profile fits with our requirements

Roles and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join DC Transportation GDC’s dynamic and energetic team of transport modelers providing traffic consultancy and advisory services to clients in UK, Europe and other international locations.

• Working independently (with moderate level of guidance and direction) on development and application of micro-simulation models in VISSIM and/or PARAMICS.
• Taking ownership of micro-simulation related tasks and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures to ensure timely submission of deliverables
• Responsible for quality checks of data, model inputs and outputs
• Training and mentoring of junior staff on micro-simulation modelling.
• Expected to work on multiple projects under tight deadlines, and still produce high quality deliverables to time scale and budget.
• Authoring competent technical reports (like LMVR’s, Transport Assessments) and small presentations
• Ability to clearly communicate (verbal and written English) in to GDC team members and if required to external clients
• Attend and contribute in team and project meetings as required
• Zeal towards working independently with minimal guidance where required.

Required Skills:

• Experienced user of VISSIM (preferably) and/or PARAMICS.
• Sound understanding of micro-simulation with previous experience on international projects. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with UK modelling guidelines like Highways England, Transport for London, and Local Authority policies.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English (both verbal and written) and produce clear, coherent and precise traffic analysis reports and deliverables like LMVR’s and technical notes.
• Team player willing to share knowledge and mentor juniors to enhance overall team capabilities.

Desirable Skills:

• Advanced VISSIM skills – MoVA signal controllers, VISVAP and COM scripting.
• Experience in any other Transport Modeling software(s) – strategic or operational modelling
• VBA programming or developing scripts to reduce manual input and automate repetitive tasks.
• Experience in Strategic/ Junction/ Pedestrian Modelling is beneficial but not essential
